First in line, Mitsuyo Maeda, the Japanese with unparalleled skill, brought the gentle art to Brazil. Next, Carlos Gracie Sr., Maeda’s first student and the first Gracie to ever learn Jiu-Jitsu. Third, Hélio Gracie, Carlos’ brother and the best Gracie fighter of his time. Fourth, Rolls Gracie, is a true jiu-jitsu innovator and champion of Brazilian jiu jitsu philosophy. And finally, Carlos Gracie, Jr., the founder of Gracie Barra and the visionary of the JIU-JITSU FOR EVERYONE® project. It's our tradition of recollecting the lives of great Masters and practitioners, both as a mark of gratitude and appreciation and as a source of inspiration from which we may still learn.

My 5 yr old daughter loves it. She is sometime anxious and nervous but with professor and coach’s help she’s getting past it. She always wants to go to jiu jitsu, tells her friends about it etc. she talks about it all night after a class. We really like that coach’s are also older students, not just adults do it gives a realistic role model she can see herself become. Piper especially likes coach Sophia because she’s strong and brave.
Gracie Barra Oro valley Jiu-Jitsu’s coach’s and Professor are some of the most accepting people I have met. I still struggle as a heavy set man and I enjoy classes and leave feeling accomplished. It is the environment that makes you want to push through and be the best you can be. I would recommend this to anyone that needs something more in their life. I look forward to classes and love every minute of this experience.
Fantastic school, instructors and family atmosphere. Highly recommended to anyone just getting started or at an advanced level. There's something for everyone
